India, however, refused to give up and forced the match into a shoot-out. India finished eighth at the FIH World Cup after losing 3-4 to co-hosts Belgium in a shoot-out following a 3-3 draw in regulation time. Abhishek opened the scoring, while Harmanpreet Singh struck twice, including a late equaliser. Belgium held their nerve in the shoot-out to secure victory.
