For 12 remote villages near China border, power is finally in sight

Remote villages in Uttarakhand's Johar Valley will soon receive grid electricity for the first time. This significant development will benefit approximately 180 seasonal residents and ITBP personnel stationed there. The electrification project, costing Rs 21 crore, spans sixty-one kilometers and includes twelve villages. Power lines have been laid up to Rasgadi, with Bugdiyar also slated for electrification shortly.

Why it matters. Bringing grid electricity to remote border villages enhances the living conditions of local residents and bolsters national security by supporting border security personnel.
